In February I had the great pleasure of attending two of Michelle Zindorf's workshops. Lookie at what we made!!! I was so excited to attend, but I was honestly scared I wouldn't be able to do it. I have been stalking Michelle's blog for so long now, that I felt like I was meeting a celebrity and I could barely contain myself! The hostess, Sharon Field, made the most DELICIOUS brownies too! Beautiful cards, chocolate, and great company... who could ask for more!?

I'm still on cloud nine! Can you believe I made these??? LOL Michelle, you rock! I showed my Stampin Up club this past Saturday and they all officially hate me now (that's a good thing by the way! LOL) I also have a few people interested in going to Savannah in October with me to attend her classes.

If I'm going to Savannah, GA, I also want to go to The Lady & Sons Restaurant (Paula Deen's restaurant). She's my other favorite "celebrity" in the whole world! How awesome will this trip be?

These are cards that we made at a friend's house recently. She is also a SU demonstrator - so if she CASEd the ideas, I appologize! LOL I thought they needed a little pop of something, so I added the faux stitching. I'm not very good at keeping the lines straight though, am I? LOL

Pet Sympathy Card

Some dear friends recently lost their beloved cat. They spent much time and money trying to keep kitty healthy (kidney failure). I know their hearts are broken, so I wanted them to know they are in my thoughts and prayers. I took my inspiration for this card from kwernerdesign. It is a simple card to make, and though it's for a sad occasion, I enjoyed making it. I'm use to stamping everything on my cards with just a little patterned paper for embellishment. So, this card was a little out of my comfort zone. I just love KWerner's cards though, so I thought I'd give it a try! :) Thank you Kristina!

The Cat's Meow

I just read Linda's blog and she mentioned that her cat, Rocky, passed away a little over 3 weeks ago. I'm so sad for her!!! I love cats too. I had a beautiful Maine Coon, Kit Kat, until August when he went into kidney failure. He was only about 10 years old and I'd had him for 9 of those years. It broke my heart! This is Kit Kat and my husband in December 2005:

I got on the internet to read more about kidney failure in cats and to see how I could have been such a horrible mommy as to not know something was terribly wrong with my baby! From everything I read, they say that cats are very stoic and don't show it when they aren't feeling well. Unfortunately, with kidney failure, by the time the symptoms start to manifest, it's usually already too late. While I was looking for info on kidney failure though, I came across a website called Angels That Purr and started looking at all the sweet cats that needed homes. There was one that caught my eye and my heart. I closed the website and felt a little guilty as my Kit Kat hadn't been gone for a month yet! I felt like a traitor! Well, after a week of thinking about this "little guy," I called Susan and asked for some more information on him. She said he was a special needs kitty because he'd been shot at close range with a pellet gun and his shoulder had been shattered. Well, I went to see him and it was love at first sight. He sat on my lap and seemed so comfortable there. I had to have him! So, I adopted him by the end of the week. This is Stormy:

Well, a little calico cat had begun hanging around my house about a month before Kit Kat died. I thought she was a neighbor's cat and I kept shoo-ing her away because she was running off all our little birdies. I finally started asking the neighbors if they knew anything about her. When no one seemed to know anything, I started putting food and water outside for her. She ate like she was starving. Then she started sitting by my front door just before I came home from work each day. I slowly started introducing her to my adopted cat and they seemed to get along splendidly. After a couple weeks, I brought her in, introduced her to the litter box and the rest is history! Later, I found out she'd been given to a neighbor who fosters cats and dogs. Apparently they had too many animals for Cali's liking and she took off. They noticed she was hanging around my yard and they said it was obvious she wanted to be at my house. So, they've come to visit a time or two, but they are so happy she's got a good home. I'm thrilled to have her too! Here's Cali:

I have absolutely no regrets at adopting another so soon after Kit Kat's death. Stormy and Cali are such sweethearts! Cali loves to give me lots of kisses. When we have company, she hides. Stormy doesn't "meow." He has a little sound that... make him sound worried. It's cute!

Pulling an All-Nighter... Whoo hoo!

Friday night, after work, I went to my Stampin' Up demonstrator's house (Karen's house). My friend (Jackie) and I stayed later to help Karen formulate ideas for her club party on Saturday. After completing 2 projects, it was "REALLY" getting late... or should I say, "early?" We were oh so sleepy and punch drunk. The sugar from Karen's birthday cake had gone straight to our heads and then dropped us. Somewhere between 3:00 and 4:00 a.m., Jackie could barely keep her eyes open, so she went home. Shortly thereafter, Karen and I got our second wind... by 5:00 a.m. EVERYTHING was absolutely hysterical!!! Of course, there is no drinking involved, but we were so tired, that even "whoo hoo" sounded funny! Since owls seem to be the "in thing" right now, we wanted to use the owl from the SU set Just Celebrate. We started making it too realistic and ended up with creams, browns, blacks... too drab compared to the other 2 projects. We wanted more color. So, we went with the green owl that I had colored and the pink owl that Jackie colored... or "the floozy" as we so lovingly nicknamed her! The green color pops though, doesn't it? Then there was the issue of whether we should cut off his feet or not... since you don't see them when they're sitting on the tree limb anyway... however, then we had a weeble wobble... Okay, so you had to be there. It was funny! Trust me! :) This is the card we came up with...

Below are some of the silly things we laughed at. A regae owl man... We punched circles out of some of the SU DSP because they looked like eyes... well, once they were placed on the owl, the chest feathers looked like a big grinning mouth full of teeth... and it was all downhill from there! Notice the time on my watch??? I got home at 5:35 a.m. on Saturday morning! If only I were in my early 20's again!

I was invited to join the club meeting Saturday afternoon... and as you can imagine, we were so tired. The silliness carried over into the party though and we managed to get a nice, quiet little lady, to laugh right out loud! Mission accomplished! Must get some sleep now! Remember the picture of my nieces on the Easter/Spring scrapbook pages? Well, I played around with one of the pictures last night and made it a black and white photo with color highlights. I love the way it turned out! Almost like a greeting card! I'm thinking about submitting it in some sort of photo contest... what do you think? Do I stand a chance? This is the picture.

I've been going to bed wayyyy too late the past couple days. I had company in town tonight, so we went out to dinner. I better run and get some ZZZzzzz's. Have a great rest of the week!

Seven things about me... Hope you're sitting somewhere comfy. This could take a while!

1) Several years ago, I met Drake Hogestyn. He plays John Black on Days of Our Lives. I just thought he was "da bomb." I got to kiss his cheek too! Anyone jealous? :) I haven't watched soaps in years...

2) I love to read and my husband loves to listen to me read, so before bed at night, we have reading time together. We pick a book we're both interested in and I'll read it to him. It's great quality time.

3) As a baby, I fell out of the crib just once. That was enough. I've been affraid of heights ever since!

4) I took one week of Spanish in high school. I was so affraid of failing that I dropped out of that class. It wasn't a requirement at that time! Then I went on a mission for my church and ended up working mainly with Spanish-speaking people. It was such a positive experience. In hindsight though, I wish I'd continued with the Spanish in high school!

5) I drive well. I've never had an accident. When people pull out in front of me when I'm doing the speed limit (and there is no one behind me for miles) and then they poke... that's when I wish I were driving a tank and I could just run over them. haha My husband, a semi-truck driver, says I don't need to drive a big rig... in his words, "80,000 pounds and an attitude do not mix!"

6) I took a quiz one time and it revealed that I am quite Monkish! Though you wouldn't know it to look at my house, I like to have things labeled and organized. I feel completely discombobulated when things are out of order... I'm not good at getting a complete mess organized though! It overwhelms me.

7) I like to figure out how things work. If they don't work, I like to figure out why. For example, I spent about 4 hours on this blog entry tonight and I was bound, bent, and determined to figure out how to make a link work! haha I love working on Dell puzzle books. If someone tells me I "can't" do something, I will FIND a way to do it!!!

Great Expectations!

Oh my goodness! The pressure is on! I've actually been added to someone's list of links! How cool is that?! I've always been told I should write a book because people love to hear my stories. I use to think, "How hard could it be?" Ha! This isn't even a book, and already I have writer's block!

I have read so many wonderful blogs and am so impressed at how "natural" everyone sounds. I feel that if I met the authors one day, we would be the best of friends! I love that! I'm looking forward to making many new friends. I don't know how often I'll actually write, but I hope that you all will enjoy what you read.

My sister and her children just left to go back home after visiting for the weekend. It's always so good to visit with them. We usually go out to lunch or dinner, out for a little retail therapy and a few good laughs. Here is a picture of the girls. Aren't they precious!

These 6" x 6" scrapbook pages were made at my SU demonstrator's house at my club party in March. Karen is so incredibly talented... I aspire to be her when I grow up!

Tomorrow is another working day... I feel depressed every Sunday night knowing I have the work week to face starting the next morning. Does anyone else feel that way too? ...or is it just me??? Hope everyone has a great week coming up!
